About the Band
Durban Regiment is a reserve force regiment of the South African National Defence Force. Our band members are all volunteers, who play for the regiment at official occasions for enjoyment. In return, the band receives a band room at Lords Ground Military Base, as well as some funding towards the bands operating experiences.
We meet once a week for band practices, and our members take part in many parades. tattoos, concerts and pipe band competitions. Over recent years, these events have included the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, the Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon, the SANDF Military Tattoo, Concert in the Park in Pietermaritzburg and Durban, Last Night of the Proms at the Durban Playhouse Opera theatre, the 2010 Currie Cup final, Cars in the Park, Music from Scotland, and many more.
Durban Regiment Pipe Band continues to promote high standards of piping, and intends to be a part of Durban’s proud military tradition long into the future. We are always looking for new members to share in our adventures, and invite you to check out our “Join the Band” page for further information.
